N95 8GB NAM, Nokia 900 + N810 = Great Combination

Over the weekend I got myself a N810 and a Nokia 900 bluetooth. I also got my wife a N95 8GB NAM, Nokia 900 bluetooth and a N810. Could this be a great combination? We’ll see….

We both took them with us when we went to North Carolina and had a chance to play with them and we both have been very impressed so far. I am definitely looking forward to seeing how well these two do together. So far it has been GREAT! Being that my wife has been using an iphone for a while now, I am interested in her thoughts. I will let her write her thoughts within the next few days…..

Durham Jazz Festival Geotagged Using N95 8GB NAM

I am loving my N95-4! I don’t know what I was doing before it. My band headlined at the Durham Jazz Festival this weekend and after reading Mark Guim’s post on geotagging and how to embed it in your blog, I decided to give it a shot. I took a few shots before going on stage. I meant to test out the Qik application, but didn’t get a chance to, this time. Anyway, here is my first geotagging attempt. You may have to zoom in one more level, to see all of the pictures.

Finally…My New N95-4

What can I say! I am so excited right now!!! I got my N95 on Friday from the good fellas over at Eportworld. If you live in the DMV (for those of you outside of the DMV, that stands for DC, Maryland & Virginia), and are looking for any type of imported phone (especially Nokia), give these guys a call and/or a visit. They have 2 stores…

Eportworld – Manager/Owner: Andres, 1719 Connecticut Ave., NW Washington, DC 20009 (202) 232-2244

Eportworld – Manager: Eric, 1013 19th Str., NW Washington, DC 20036 (202) 467-7600

Let them know, that you saw this post….These are 2 really good guys, I had a chance to work with them both.

On to the phone….

WOW…..That’s pretty much all I can say right now. I am still trying to take it all in, before I really begin to give my two cents. Except for the internet, the iphone has NOTHING on this phone. And don’t be fooled by pictures that you see either. This phone is so small and so light! That was the first comment, my wife made when I let her see the phone….actually her second. Her first comment was on the screen and how much bigger it was, over the N95-1.

Loading music on here, was no problem. I have about 2GB of music so far and I definitely have no complaints.

Pictures – When you have a phone like this, taking pictures becomes an addiction. It’s like, you’re just waiting for anything to happen, just so you can whip out the phone and snap a picture. Bringing up the camera application and even taking a picture is definitely much faster than the N95-1. And the quality, I am at a loss for words….this is a phone first, right?

I took this picture of my son and my father-in-law at my house on Saturday, while we were working on the yard and then went in the house, connected it to my printer and printed him a 4×6. He was so surprised, when he found out, this was actually a phone and not a stand alone camera.

I’ve read a lot about the camera on the N82 and how it takes better pictures at night than the N95-2/4. Well, I took this picture of my wife (playing with her iphone), while we waiting for our pizza. We were sitting in our car at night. I don’t think this picture came out bad at all, do you? If this picture came out this good, how much better would the N82 have been?

I’m so excited, because our daughter will be born in 2 more weeks, and now I can just take pictures with the phone and immediately post it to flickr, for all the family to see.

I am going to end this post here, but will be posting more this week. Now I am really excited to get my hands on a N810. See you soon!

A few sample images from this weekend…I’m sure you can see why I am convinced that I can leave my stand alone camera at home.  This phone takes awesome photos!

My Time With The N81 8GB

I received a N81 8GB from Wom World to trial and for the last 2 weeks, I have come to enjoy my time spent with it. I was so impressed with the box/packaging (if that’s what you would call it), that it came in, take a look at the following pictures….

The packaging was enough to get me excited! I was really surprised to see the Bose headphones. Being a musician, that was a definite plus!!!!

On to the phone……

The phone is built really solid.  I love the way it felt.  It didn’t feel cheap to me at all.  The slider was not wobbly, there was no creaking.  Overall the build quality was great.  Of course I never ever want to to drop a phone, but if this phone were to ever take a small fall, it feels as if it is strong enough to survive it.  Battery life was pretty impressive to me.  I was able to go about 2 days before needing to recharge.  Typing messages was not bad at all either, but I didn’t type too many, so I won’t really began to talk about that.  The camera is terrible though.  Having the N80, N93 and N95, I constantly took pictures.  I wasn’t too excited to take pictures with this phone.  I had a chance to test out the N-Gage 2.0 and really enjoyed it.  I wish I could have had more time with it, but 2.0 was released this week.  Not to worry though, i will be getting a N95-4 pretty soon and will have plenty of time to play around with it.

Being that there have been several reviews already on the phone and the fact that I am a gigging musician, I decided to focus this review on the music side of the phone…..

As a regular gigging musician, I am constantly getting new music to learn and since I really don’t like the idea of having to carry around two or even three devices, I love being able to load my music onto my phone and then listen to it whenever I need to.  For that reason, I have been carrying an 8GB iphone around for the last two months.  It has been very convenient too!  Being able to quickly play a song before a gig, to help me remember a song, has come in handy plenty of times.  So being that this was a phone with 8GB of storage and included some very nice headphones, it was time to put it to the test….

After loading songs onto the phone, I quickly went down to my basement, got on my set and put on some music.  I was so impressed with the sound quality!!!  The sound quality was so such much better than the iphone and even louder.  For me being louder was a plus.  Practicing with my drums, can sometimes drown out the sound from the iphone.  I never ran across that problem with the N81.  I shot a video with my E90 and want to show you the difference in sound quality and which phone produced louder volume.

Which phone will win the sound battle???

Conclusion….

As you can see, the N81’s sound, blows the iphones sound out of the water.  The quality is definitely better, from songs to ringtones.  Overall I have been pretty impressed with this phone.  I don’t think that this is the phone for me (because of the camera mainly) or at least it could never be my main phone.  The phone has a 2 megapixel camera and in my test, I thought the camera on the iphone took much better pictures.  Would I recommend this phone to anyone?  Yes…I know a lot of people who would enjoy this phone.

Based on sound, if I had to make a choice between the iphone and the N81 8GB, I would take the N81 8GB hands down.  I have really enjoyed my time with it…
